On J's last day, before passing, we came in and she had wrapped his rosary around his hand, somehow knowing how much that would mean to him and us, especially as J was not responsive.
My husband, J, had been fighting cancer for 3 years. He hated hospitals and was pretty vocal about it. Clair showed up on the scene and somehow managed to become quickly beloved by J, me, and my 2 sons. Clair had meaningful conversations with J at night. She got him a lovely gift, had fun talking to the boys, and kept me sane some days. On J's last day, before passing, we came in and she had wrapped his rosary around his hand, somehow knowing how much that would mean to him and us, especially as J was not responsive. She helped ensure J had the most peaceful passing while we all surrounded him. She later came to his funeral. I wrote her name in our family Prayer book to make sure we always pray for her. Her compassion, the dignity she afforded J, and the friendship we all shared while watching a good man suffer will ensure her face and name will always be loved by our family. She is an angel and really good at understanding people and what they need. I wish I could better articulate just how special she is; this short message doesn't begin to cover it.
