Emma literally stopped what she was doing and helped me get through the worst panic attack I have ever had.
I came up to 4 East in full DKA, not mentally aware. I have been diagnosed with medical PTSD from the seven years I've been going through. I almost have a panic attack until I meet my nurse and see what his or her attitude is.
Emma walked into the room with her beautiful, contagious, and gentle personality. I immediately felt safe. My husband never leaves me at the hospital until he feels comfortable with the nurses I get. As soon as we heard she was going to be my nurse for the next three days, an immense amount of stress fell off both my husband and me. Emma had to work herself to the bone between all the pumps, blood sugar, and pain control. I felt so bad for making her so busy.
Not one single time did she not always have a smile and lift me up. While I was here this morning, I found out my 14-year-old son was at Wake Med about to have surgery to remove his appendix. I was devastated because as a mommy, you are supposed to be there. Emma literally stopped what she was doing and helped me get through the worst panic attack I have ever had. She is absolutely the sweetest, most caring person, and let's not forget she was working and caring for her other patients at the same time!
