Her empathy is unmatched, and her constant care to connect with others really sets the bar high for my other attending nurses.
First of all, I wanna thank all my attending nurses for taking care of me and my family during my most devastating life event. Being admitted into Adventist Health, not knowing what would happen to me while being induced to deliver my stillborn son, the staff at Delano Adventist Health were also my strength and support throughout this. I'd like to acknowledge a very special RN who literally went above and beyond for me on my first night and again on my 2nd and last stay, and her name is Angela Lavonne.
It's such a destiny to have our names so similar that I felt such an immediate connection with her. She went above and beyond for me when I didn't know what to expect. She told me, "If there's anything that I need, she'll be there," and I know it's something every nurse says, but she really meant what she said. My first night, Angela came to do her hourly check-up routine and caught me during one of my many breakdowns. She kept me company and made sure I was okay after crying. She had time to have a real conversation with me like as you talk to with a family member or a friend, and that honestly made me feel like a person.
Her empathy is unmatched, and her constant care to connect with others really sets the bar high for my other attending nurses. She never made me feel like I was alone in the room. She strikes up conversations and wants to know how you're genuinely feeling, and there's never an awkward silence with her; it's like she's known you personally. If I had to nominate someone for a DAISY Award, it would honestly be Angela. I love how she connects with people, and it makes me so hopeful and wish there were more people like her. I want to thank her so much for being there for me and my family.
