Paige was the primary nurse for a patient who had a beautiful, uncomplicated birth. Only 30 minutes into the recovery, Paige noticed the baby’s color, moved him to the warmer, and then decided to call NICU for help when her interventions were not working for this baby, who was struggling to breathe. This baby, unfortunately, passed away in the NICU. The day that Paige was notified of the baby’s passing, Paige went to visit the family in the bereavement room. The family made a point to be sure that everyone knew how compassionate Paige was. She ensured the family had her personal contact information and made sure they knew that she would like to attend his funeral if he were to have one. Although Paige is a newer nurse, I believe we could all learn from her compassion and drive to care for her patients. Paige is an astounding nurse and deserves a million of these. She made an impossible situation just a little bit possible.
