It gave me great comfort to be in the caring hands of a person whose every action was totally dedicated to the care and welfare of her patients.
I woke up in the PACU of Emory University Hospital, Midtown, Atlanta, GA, to the warm, happy, and confident face of Miss Reggie. Her professionalism was the first thing I noticed; her work area was clean, well-stocked, warm, and comfortable, with low lighting. She greeted me with great compassion as if I were a family friend. She comforted me by telling me that she had spoken to my husband every twenty minutes to let him know how I was doing of which I was very grateful. During my stay in the PACU, the young patient next to me was constantly asking for more medication, which Miss Reggie gave to her at the proper scheduled time; however, the patient kept calling more frequently. Miss Reggie took control and first consulted her colleague, and they decided to call the physician in to speak with the patient. The physician explained to the patient the situation, and the patient calmed down and was soon transferred to the floor. It gave me great comfort to be in the caring hands of a person whose every action was totally dedicated to the care and welfare of her patients. As far as Nurse Reggie was concerned, she stood like a rock to protect the patients.
