Kudos to Mark, who was worried about a patient and who followed up with the file so that my wounds were taken more seriously.
Mark Baglien introduced himself within an hour of my admittance to Eisenhower Medical Emergency, after being mauled by a cat at 4 pm. X-rays were taken, and my gurney was parked in front of the nurse's station, waiting to be bandaged. I was there until 9:30 pm when I was discharged.
The next afternoon, Mark took the initiative and called me. He was concerned about the puncture wounds on my hands and wanted me to return to the Emergency unit. He encouraged me to do so as he wanted me to receive IV antibiotics so that my hands would not become infected. He also wanted the bandages to be changed on my leg. I was seen by two doctors who clearly explained what they were going to do, dedicated nurses who appeared to love their jobs and treated me as a valued individual, and by Mark, who continued to check how I was doing.
I went to Wound Care on Wednesday morning. The Wound Care doctor reviewed the medications and was pleased that I had received an IV of an antibiotic, the second stronger oral antibiotic, and had bandages changed 24 hours after my first admittance for reevaluated. Kudos to Mark, who was worried about a patient and who followed up with the file so that my wounds were taken more seriously. He showed compassion and dedication to his career and to Eisenhower Medical Center. I am extremely impressed and most grateful for his kindness. He is the kind of ambassador that Eisenhower should be seeking.
