She makes our unit better just by being part of it.
I am honored to nominate Myriam Poitevien for the DAISY Award. Her extraordinary strength, unwavering commitment, and deep compassion exemplify the highest ideals of nursing, and she touches the lives of her patients and colleagues in the most meaningful ways.

Strength: Myriam has shown remarkable strength in even the most demanding situations. Whether managing high-pressure emergencies or supporting her team, she remains calm, focused, and encouraging. Her strength is quiet but unwavering. She remains a steady presence, level-headed, resourceful, and always looking out for her team.

Commitment: Her dedication to her profession exceeds expectations. She continuously seeks to improve her skills. Her drive to keep learning, and the way she always prioritizes patient dignity and care makes her commitment evident.

Compassion: One moment that stands out, and perfectly reflects who she is, happened recently when a patient was in their final hours. The family, heartbroken, was unable to be at the bedside. Without hesitation, Myriam stayed with the patient so they wouldn't be alone at that moment. She dimmed the lights, played the patient's favorite music, and sat beside them, holding their hand as they passed away peacefully. She spoke gently to them, offering comfort and calm when it was most needed. In that moment, she wasn't just a nurse-she was family. That kind of compassion cannot be taught. It is something that lives deeply within her.

Whether she is advocating for her patients or supporting a grieving family, she shows up with grace and heart every day. Myriam is a true example of what nursing is all about. She makes our unit better just by being part of it. She is the kind of nurse every patient hopes for and every colleague is lucky to work beside. It is with deep admiration and gratitude that I nominate Myriam for this well-deserved recognition.
