I had the privilege of being under the care of nurse Chukwudi Okeke during my stay at 8W Edmonds Swedish after an emergency visit due to a bowel obstruction. From the moment Chuk walked in the door, he exuded confidence, caring, and compassion. I was totally impressed as he thoroughly reviewed my file and could relate to what I was going through before stepping into the room. With all the uncertainty regarding my condition, Chuk immediately made me feel confident and assured me that he would be there to help me every step of the way.
They say, “first impression is lasting impression.” My first and lasting impression of Chuk will always be someone with a great smile, kind, confident, compassionate, knowledgeable, committed, and caring. I have the highest respect and am forever grateful for what he has done to help me during one of the most difficult challenges of my life.
When I think of my care under Chuk, I think of kindness, empathy, and compassion! His experience and calmness were evident in his demeanor, and I appreciated how he took the time to explain every procedure and process to me. Chuk demonstrated excellence and integrity in his words and actions. I believe this gift comes naturally from his heart.
During my stay, I was able to observe Chuk interacting with doctors who came in to review my medical condition with me. Chuk is curious and open to enhancing his knowledge in the medical field. I thought to myself, 'This is someone who would make a great doctor or surgeon someday.' He exemplifies the commitment, caring, and compassion demanded for the medical field. I understand that resources are scarce, and nurses are stretched to the limit in the medical arena. Chuk made me feel that I am important and a priority under his care.
