She conversed with her, calling her by a nickname, and went above and beyond to give her the best care possible.
In October of 2024, our daughter, L, was brought to NYU after an overdose of iron pills. Shortly after her arrival, she received a liver transplant. Sadly, she had many complications after her surgery. L developed aspergillosis and suffered multiple brain injuries, including strokes, aneurysms, and a brain bleed. She had many procedures and operations, and she was unable to move the right side of her body, had a trach, and was unable to communicate effectively. After her stay in the Neuro ICU, L returned to the transplant floor in hopes of eventually entering accurate rehab. It was a tough transition back to the transplant floor.
With L’s disabilities, she was not the average transplant patient and required a high level of care. We were lucky that Jasmine was her nurse on many occasions. Jasmine never looked at L's disabilities as a burden. Jasmine treated L as a normal 19-year-old girl. She conversed with her, calling her by a nickname, and went above and beyond to give her the best care possible. Jasmine also showed compassion for my family. She often comforted me with hugs and kind words. Sadly, my daughter never made it off the transplant floor and passed away in March 2025. I know that we were fortunate to have Jasmine as our nurse, and I hope others will be blessed with her care in the future.
