Jenna Rossillon finds happiness in the small moments. Her impact on the nursing profession and the healthcare community of Wichita isn’t one grand gesture; it’s the day-to-day choices she consistently makes to find joy and purpose for her patients, their families, and her colleagues.
During my hospital rotation, I had the privilege of witnessing Jenna in action. I observed her navigate difficult yet meaningful conversations with patients and their families. In the most challenging situations, particularly with patients facing limited time/options, she offered not only exceptional medical care, but also a listening ear, a warm hug, and a shoulder for families to cry on.
As a Speech Language Pathology graduate student, I experienced Jenna's immense support firsthand. Her outstanding leadership, experience, and guidance made a lasting impact. Knowing her personally, I've seen how she extends this same level of helpfulness to everyone, from physician residents to students. Despite her demanding schedule, she advocated for us all with an unwavering smile. She never made me feel inadequate about my questions, though looking back, she certainly could have! With Jenna, I was always a valued member of the healthcare team. This meant everything to me, especially since different healthcare professionals, such as speech therapy and nursing, can often feel independent from one another. Jenna changed that; she built my confidence and made me feel essential to the team.
This is Jenna's essence: someone who brings out the best in others and inspires them to reach their goals. This holds true whether she's working with colleagues or caring for patients. She exemplifies the finest qualities of the nursing profession and, to speak boldly, embodies the best of humanity itself. Truly exceptional people like Jenna change the world every day through their consistent determination to be a force for good. While nothing could fully capture her level of compassion, care, dedication, and service to others, a DAISY Award would be a fitting start to recognize her extraordinary impact.
