Alicia went above and beyond to wash my mom's hair so thoroughly and style it nicely so she would be presentable for her family, and because she cared so much to do the right thing, all on her own.
I don't know what my family and I would have done without Alicia these last few days, with a very tragic event that occurred with my mom, who is a 58-year-old, wonderful, full-of-life woman. My Mom went unresponsive, received CPR, and was shocked; she also aspirated when she vomited. Alicia went above and beyond to wash my mom's hair so thoroughly and style it nicely so she would be presentable for her family, and because she cared so much to do the right thing, all on her own. I have been clinging to Alicia; she has been my peace of mind & saving grace through one of the worst times of my life. Even after her third 12-hour shift in a row, her performance and care have not lessened in the least. There has not been one time that I've walked into my mom's room where she was not cared for. A nurse like Alicia is hard to find, a true gem and a rare angel on earth. She takes the time to come talk to and inform my mom's large family and friend group multiple times without being asked to do so, as well as ensuring all of our questions are answered. I can tell Alicia genuinely cares about her patients, and I hope she knows what a difference she makes and what a light she is, even in the darkest of times. I will truly never forget Alicia as long as I live, for the positive impact she made when my world fell apart. My mom has told me she knows one nurse she had when she had cancer was an angel, and I know Alicia is as well. My mom would agree. Knowing how broken my heart is, she made a beautiful gift of my mom's heart rhythm in a glass bottle I will cherish forever. Alicia deserves this award more than I can express. From a family member, nurse assistant, and student nurse perspective. Thank you, Alicia!
