She reached out to the funeral home to see if there was a live stream so that the patient could attend the funeral virtually. As there was no live telecasting, she printed out the pictures from the funeral home site and kept them beside him to make him feel better.
Shanna is being recognized for her extraordinary, compassionate, caring attitude toward her patients. She goes above and beyond to care for a patient and provide them the best she can. We had a patient who was admitted to our floor for a Kidney transplant in February 2024. Shanna Tims was the nurse assigned to the patient.
Unfortunately, his girlfriend passed away due to a heart attack, and her funeral was scheduled for the day he was called in for a Kidney transplant. The situation was unbearable for him. One of the best things one can do to comfort someone who has lost a loved one is to be a listening ear. Shanna took the time to talk to him and listened to him in his grievance. She called the Chaplain to come to her bedside.
The patient provided them with his girlfriend's information. Shanna searched and found the funeral home where his girlfriend's funeral was arranged. Shanna went above and beyond to support him in his difficult time. While rounding on the patient, he expressed his thankfulness from the bottom of his heart, and he wanted Shanna to be appreciated. The patient mentioned that whenever he looks at his girlfriend's picture, he remembers and thanks Shanna for helping him through that situation.
