Amanda wanted to make sure this patient was cleaned up and made comfortable.
I have been working with Amanda for a little over a year. She has gone above and beyond for all of her patients. The reason I believe she should be nominated is one story in particular about a patient that was not even hers, but she cared for him as if he were her patient or her family member.
This patient came to us as a CMO, but he came up in poor condition. The patient was not clean and was left in a bad state when brought to us. Amanda jumped in without being asked to help. She took the initiative to care for this patient. Amanda wanted to make sure this patient was cleaned up and made comfortable. Even though he might not have known, the family did. She wanted to make him more presentable and let his family see him in a clean and comfortable state. She helped me not only clean him but also go through his pants that were soiled to ensure all of his belongings were taken out. What Amanda did made a difference in how this patient ended up passing away by making sure he was clean and comfortable, and the family was able to see him that way. We need more nurses like Amanda, and I am so thankful to not only call Amanda a colleague but also a friend. Amanda not only cares for her patients like they are family, but also for other patients because, in her eyes, they are all her patients. She is the type of nurse who doesn't just care about the surface-level care but also about the care that goes deeper and makes patients and their families feel cared about.
