Ms. Willis has been a nurse for four years and has spent all of that time in the correctional setting. She has been at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility for 9 years in multiple medical roles, including CNA/CCMA, LPN, and RN. She did spend some time working as a trauma nurse, but returned full-time to corrections as she considers corrections as her home!
Mikayla demonstrates extensive knowledge in the medical field and is adept at treating a wide range of injuries and illnesses as needed. Within the correctional environment at WVCF, she responds promptly to emergencies. When called upon to assess or provide care to the offender population, she acts swiftly and effectively. The list of her assistance goes on far beyond the few mentioned occurrences.

Additionally, during a fire incident in one of the units, she skillfully assessed an officer suffering from smoke inhalation, ensuring he received the appropriate treatment for a full recovery.
Mikayla has also shown her dedication when treating an incarcerated individual who reported being sexually assaulted by another inmate. Her documentation is exemplary, and she consistently submits all necessary reports regarding incidents in a timely manner. Furthermore, during staff assaults, she often goes above and beyond her responsibilities by checking on injured colleagues in her own time, demonstrating her genuine concern for their well-being.
