She did it all with such calmness that I never felt worried about what was happening.
On the morning that I came in for my scheduled repeat C-section to deliver my 2nd baby, after getting all prepped and ready, Katie became my nurse at 7 am. She walked with me into the OR and was there throughout my C-section. Everything went beautifully, and after a long-anticipated pregnancy, my son, T, was born and brought to the NICU.

Unfortunately, post-C-section, I developed postpartum hemorrhage and ultimately required an urgent D&C followed by an emergent IR procedure to stop the bleeding. Katie was with me through it all. I am especially grateful for her thorough assessment skills in the recovery phase, anticipation of care, and her quick action to notify the OB on call about her concerns. She did it all with such calmness that I never felt worried about what was happening. She was very personable, easy to talk to, and explained things in great detail.

Although her shift was done at 3:30 pm, she remained with me throughout my urgent D&C and IR procedure, the procedure started at 1 pm, and I woke up back in PACU at 5 pm. When I woke up, Katie was there by my side, helping the PACU nurses get a blood transfusion started, and she walked me through everything that had happened while I was under general anesthesia.

Once I was stable enough to leave the PACU, she took me to the NICU to see my son, as I hadn't seen him since 8:30 that morning, before going to postpartum. I finally arrived at postpartum around 6:15 pm, and Katie never seemed to be in a rush to leave. And of course, the next day she came to visit me to see how I was doing, which meant a lot. Her dedication and passion for providing the best care to moms in labor and delivery are unmatched and never went unnoticed. She truly went above and beyond her role as nurse for me, and for that, I am forever thankful.
