Michelle is patient, kind, and genuinely cares about the team and positive patient outcomes.
Michelle has empathy, expertise, and uncommon compassion for all of our nursing staff and creates such a safe and supportive environment every day for us and our patients. She listens and acts on every suggestion, and is well-versed in current practice, helping us to refine our practices in line with current clinical excellence. She constantly encourages continuing education and promotes certification and higher education. She is clear and concise, telling us what we need to get/give to our patients and families. She collaborates with other departments and physicians and leads by example. She provides constructive feedback, is adaptable and flexible, and modifies teaching methods to meet a diverse range of needs for all ages and education levels. She has even asked each of us to ask if we need one-on-one meetings with her anytime. Clear outcomes are easily established by her because she listens and leads by example. I have worked in many clinical units with many educators over the years. I cannot think of even one educator as good as her.

Since I’ve started preop, Michelle has provided numerous resources to assist me in familiarizing myself with the preop standards. She is always around to assist in helping hands, whether it’s rooming a patient or taking a patient's weight. She always answers any questions I have and she is constantly looking to ways to provide us education. She is an amazing educator, and I’m glad I know I can go to her with any questions I may have. She never hesitates to assist.

She is the over-the-top educator I have seen in my 25 years of nursing experience, for real. Since I moved to cardiac pre op in 2024, and I met her, she has been so amazing, guided me through my orientation with a big smile, and is so people-oriented. Her personality with everyone is so sweet and professional. One day, I was in the hallways leaving work, and my time off was denied for my daughter's illness, so I got a little emotional, and I was hiding my tears. She was walking by and saw me and felt it in my face, immediately she stopped and asked me if I was ok, and gave a hug that made me feel much better and stopped my tears.

I had a code blue in pre op on my 1st week; she was the first person who responded to my room and was by my side, took all the tension and fear from me, and supported me. Our patient was safe and ok. She is the educator who gives hands-on on to all nurses and goes around and asks if we are ok and if we need help, and she helps. I love her educational cardiac classes that she created, too, so simple and so educational, things stick around with her, and I become more efficient and confident in this new setting because of her support and the excellent system she uses. I enjoy Advent Health because of her support. Thank you, Michelle. We truly love and appreciate her. She is the best.

Michelle has a multifaceted role; she focuses on teaching and shaping the next generation of nurses. She made sure that preop nurses are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective and safe patient care. She offers guidance and resources for nurses seeking to advance their careers and expand their knowledge. Nurses who would like to be certified with a specialty, preparing for PEP. She's on top of ALN, making sure that everybody completes our mandatory educational requirements.

Our extraordinary Clinical Nurse Educator is Michelle Larnard; I am nominating her because she exemplifies what it takes to be an excellent Educator. Our unit was in dire need of an educator, and Michelle came in as a breath of fresh air to our professional growth. Michelle is patient, kind, and genuinely cares about the team and positive patient outcomes. When our days are busy and hectic, Michelle avails herself to assist us in any way she possibly can. Michelle goes beyond her educator role to help us, such as rooming the patients, starting an IV, doing an EKG, etc. I would call her our professional growth champion and mentor, as she always encourages us to seek higher educational opportunities and directs us to the resources needed, and is always committed to seeing us through. We appreciate her very much.
