Emily definitely checks all the boxes, then some, for being an extraordinary nurse. I was admitted to Blanchard Valley Hospital for double pneumonia and sepsis. Despite my reason for admission, Emily truly made my hospital stay a life-changing positive experience in my life. The second she walked into my room, she was like a ray of sunshine and an angel of hope. Emily is the true definition of what a nurse is. Compassion, empathy, an attitude of advocacy, excellent communication skills, perseverance, commitment to her patients and the profession, mentorship, and emotional intelligence. This nurse gave more than 110% effort in each and every category mentioned above. She gave me all of the necessary tools to get well during and after my discharge through her knowledge of vitamins, supplements, and years of experience. After my evening medications, she always made sure I had everything I needed to rest well and said good night when she left my room. This caring attitude gave me a sense of hope, security, and peace that I would soon be well enough to go home. Six days later, that hope of coming home became a reality, and I was honored to have her discharge me. I was given specific instructions, explanations of why I was in the hospital, and follow-up appointments that were necessary for me to make to maintain my wellness journey. Although our paths may never cross again in this lifetime, I will always be grateful to her and Blanchard Valley Hospital for hiring such a phenomenal nurse and human being.
