Kyla went out of her way to make me feel comfortable when I was scared and apprehensive about being in the ICU in the first place. She met me with the biggest, warmest smile! I could tell she was genuine and not faking her warmth towards me. She laughed and told stories and made me feel so at home that I nearly forgot I was receiving medical care for a life-threatening event. She erased my anxiety and made me feel like family in a strange place that had originally had my anxiety through the roof. She calmly explained the procedures I was going through in a way that made them understandable and gave me full trust in the SMC staff. She was always very respectful and took the time to explain things to me that I didn’t understand, doing so in a way that I could comprehend. Even as I nervously went through the SMC menu options, she nodded to the things that were really good to try and the things I should probably stay away from.

I felt like she went above and beyond with her bedside manner. She really made me feel at ease and gained my trust with people who genuinely cared about me, when I was feeling scared and out of place. I will never forget her smile and her cool, nonchalant manner, which allowed me to trust her care for me. Thank you, Kyla! You made my stay at SMC not so scary and completely erased my total anxiety about being here in the first place. If everyone at SMC could take their jobs as seriously and as heartily as she does, there would never be any reason for anyone to be afraid or scared of medical care. Thank you for caring about me and helping to ease my anxiety and stress. The entire staff was warm and welcoming, and I truly appreciate that. However, Kyla deserves special recognition for her exceptional attitude and care. Thank you, Kyla!
