To know Brooke Payne is to know selflessness and compassion. Brooke is a Nurse Liaison in the Main OR. Her role on our team is to keep families updated about their loved ones in our care, assist patients and family members in pre-op, and ensure everyone is in the right place for surgeons to speak with families after they have finished the case. Brooke is well known for not only excelling at those duties, but she also consistently goes above and beyond in everything she is asked to do. She is the listening ear our visitors need when they are stressed and worried with questions or concerns. Brooke isn't only seen giving updates or rounding on patients, she also jumps right in to assist in getting patients to the OR for emergent surgeries when extra hands are needed. She also puts herself in the patient's, family members', and visitors ' shoes, which adds perspective and empathy to her role that is unmatched. She is a huge patient advocate. If a family member has a question or concern, Brooke ensures that they obtain the necessary answers or resources to address the situation at hand.
