They took on extra duties themself, ensuring that the team felt supported, heard, and not overwhelmed.
I am proud to nominate this person for the Nurse Leader DAISY Award in recognition of their exceptional leadership, compassion, and unwavering support to the team during a particularly challenging shift. One night, when the department was experiencing an extremely high volume of patients, the team was already stretched thin. To make matters more difficult, the department was short-staffed, and there was no coverage for mental breaks or lunches. Despite these challenges, this person remained a steady and calm presence. They took on extra duties themself, ensuring that the team felt supported, heard, and not overwhelmed.
In addition to direct involvement, this person showed incredible leadership by continuously motivating the team and keeping their spirits up during an exhausting shift. They made sure that every nurse felt acknowledged and appreciated for their hard work. Their dedication to the staff's well-being ensured that the department continued to function smoothly, even under the most stressful conditions.
I have had the privilege of working alongside this person for many years, watching them grow from a Charge Nurse to Nurse Manager. Over the years, they have not only developed their own leadership skills but have also inspired and mentored countless other nurses, guiding them into roles such as Assistant Nurse Managers, Educators, Care Coordinators, Patient Care Leaders, and Nurse Managers.

This person has shown me firsthand how to lead by example with a hands-on approach, truly exemplifying what it means to spread the BayCare Effect. They lead with integrity, empathy, and dedication, always ensuring that the team feels empowered and supported to do their best. This person's commitment to both patient care and staff development makes them an invaluable asset to the department and to the organization as a whole.
This person’s actions go far beyond just being a manager - they are a true leader, mentor, and advocate for both patients and the team. Their ability to balance the demanding needs of the department while nurturing the growth of others is a true testament to their exceptional character and leadership. This person's unwavering commitment to the well-being of those they lead makes them an exemplary candidate for the Nurse Leader DAISY Award.
