Anna was able to coordinate the photo shoot with the patient and family on Mother’s Day. The patient began to have organ failure and passed 10 days later.
The BMT unit had a young patient who was diagnosed with leukemia after giving birth the same year. Unfortunately, she was hospitalized shortly after her diagnosis and was unable to bond with her newborn. She suffered from Guillain-Barré while in the hospital. Her family lived several hours away and would bring the baby up when she recovered and was placed in BIR. Unfortunately, the patient was brought back to 7Pickens due to complications as the disease progressed, and she was running out of treatment options. Anna met with the family every week while they were in the hospital to check on the patient's progress. The patient had shared with Anna that she was afraid that the baby would not know who she was. Anna reached out to a photographer and asked if they would provide Mother’s Day photos for the child while she was in the hospital. They agreed. Anna was able to coordinate the photo shoot with the patient and family on Mother’s Day. The patient began to have organ failure and passed 10 days later. This was above and beyond to make sure her daughter would have these photos for her lifetime.
