Not only did he care for me, but he also showed kindness and concern for my husband.
I have stage 4 colon and liver cancer. I was in a single car accident over a year ago, and was taken to a trauma unit in Richmond, Indiana.  After spending three days in the hospital, I was treated for a fractured breastbone. Six days later, I got worse. I began vomitting and had unbearable pain in my back. I then went to Kettering Preble Emergency.

My nurse was Chad, and from the time he walked in my room until we left he was a blessing. I was put in a section at the end where there were quite a few other patients. Chad made sure I had warm blankets constantly, and he assured me when I left there I would feel better. He was so carful not to bump or put pressure where I hurt. He assured me when I cried that it would get better. He had many other patients, but he never forgot me.

Chad was always checking on me to see how my pain was, whether my vomiting had improved, and to make sure I had plenty of warm blankets. Even when the doctor hadn’t returned for a while, Chad continued to check in and make sure I was comfortable. He took the time to talk with me about my cancer, my family, and other topics to help redirect my thoughts and ease my anxiety. Not only did he care for me, but he also showed kindness and concern for my husband.

After my CT scans, Chad made sure I was reconnected to everything properly and that I had more warm blankets. He explained each step of what he was doing, every shot, every IV medication, with patience and professionalism. He is truly an excellent nurse.
