I would like to recognize Alissa Puglia, RN, from the Case Management team on WT12 for her extraordinary compassion, dedication, and advocacy in caring for a patient facing significant barriers. This patient had exceeded their expected length of stay and was without insurance, a phone, housing, or financial resources. Despite these complex challenges, Alissa went well beyond the scope of her duties to ensure this patient received safe, comprehensive, and compassionate care. Alissa demonstrated exceptional initiative by securing a cell phone for the patient, an essential tool for continuity of care. She personally programmed contact information for all of the patient's physicians, making it as easy as possible for the patient to schedule and manage follow-up appointments independently. In addition, Alissa arranged reliable transportation to and from medical appointments, ensured the patient had access to necessary medical supplies, and provided clear, personalized instructions on who to contact for various needs or complications. Her efforts reflect a deep commitment to whole-person care and exemplify AdventHealth's mission to extend the Healing Ministry of Christ. Alissa's tireless advocacy and unwavering compassion made a profound impact on this patient's life and future.
