But Jen was her ICU nurse those first 2 days, and she was amazing, taking care of P and helping to encourage M and me and relieving our fears.
Jennifer has been an outstanding nurse since joining the HC team back in 2023. She consistently picks up shifts and works extra to make sure her ICU teams are getting the help they need. Truly Going the Extra Mile. I am nominating Jennifer based on a previous DAISY nomination she received while on assignment at The University of Iowa. While on this assignment, she always made sure to not only treat her patient first, but also to make sure the family was well informed and as involved in the process as possible. In one specific case, she treated a patient only for them to return to the hospital 9 weeks later when Jennifer was assigned to be their nurse. The impact Jennifer made on this patient and their family's lives is exactly what we are looking for in our nurses, and is a pillar for what the DAISY Award represents. She would make an amazing recipient and deserves this award so much.

My sister was in the SICU after surgery for a hernia and bowel obstruction. She was (and unfortunately still is) in critical condition, and my other sister and I were so scared. But Jen was her ICU nurse those first 2 days, and she was amazing, taking care of P and helping to encourage M and me and relieving our fears. Now, 9 weeks later, we are back in the SICU, and we have Jen again for the last 2 days. She is just as amazing, helping to care for our sister and keeping our spirits up. Nursing is a special skill, requiring fast thinking, multitasking, hard work, and doing hard jobs no one else wants to do. And most of all, having compassion for those in need. Not only patients, but their families too. She rocks!
