"A veteran, new to the EAST clinic, arrived late in the day with symptoms of a serious toe infection. Despite it being the end of the day, Lisa and the MSA ensured the Veteran was cared for instead of turning him away. Lisa's keen suspicion of possible osteomyelitis led to the Veteran being promptly referred to the Madison VA ED, where his condition was confirmed and treated with necessary surgery. Lisa's timely intervention likely prevented a much worse outcome and showcased her steadfast commitment to providing the right care at the right time."
