Cherry is a trustworthy, patient, and encouraging leader who never fails to offer support to her team, whether they know they need it or not, and does so with so much energy. She is patient, always sharing what she knows, but also challenging her staff when they are stuck in a mental rut. She makes anyone she speaks to feel heard and respected, no matter how short or long the interaction may be. She offers solutions to difficult situations and will share her own challenges and outcomes to help whomever she’s speaking to come to their own conclusions.

Cherry encourages engagement across the unit by taking advantage of the events across the unit or organization and inviting her peers to participate in the monthly Unit-Based Professional Governance meetings. She empowers her staff through positive feedback. She will take any downtime to go around and verbalize each staff member’s wins for the day, especially if it positively affected their patients.

Cherry always has the patients’ best interests in mind. She will round on the patients and then immediately find the nurse associated with them to ensure their requests or concerns are addressed appropriately. She motivates her fellow nurses to learn and grow through practice. She truly leads by example.
