I will never forget when she told me that we were handling the situation with so much strength and faith, and being the best support our son could ever ask for.
Our newborn son has been in the NICU for nearly 3 weeks. He has made huge drives with his house. When he was first admitted, we were told he had most likely three days to live and was unrecoverable. The first week was the hardest, never knowing what to expect. In that first week, we had Sam as our nurse for a couple of days. She gave us so much support. Answered all difficult questions to the best of her ability. Let us be a part of everything our son needed, diaper changes, temperature checks, changing his clothes, swaddling him, and so much more. Giving us every chance to play our mom and dad roles under this difficult situation. I will never forget when she told me that we were handling the situation with so much strength and faith, and being the best support our son could ever ask for. She gave me a hug. Those words and that hug were what I needed at that moment. Three weeks later, our son is still living and breathing on his own. Sam still comes in every couple of days and checks on us and tells us how excited she is about our son's progress. I will always remember our NICU nurse, Sam.
