This nurse is an amazing DV nurse and a person as a whole.
I came to the ER via ambulance with my daughter after I had been assaulted by my significant other at the time. I had a black, swollen eye; I could not see clearly because it was so swollen. My daughter was strong as she is naturally, but she was scared seeing me like this, and having been a real victim of this situation, she was treated empathetically and kindly by your ER staff. This nurse is an amazing DV nurse and a person as a whole. She and her student asked me the hard questions, took photographic evidence, although being extremely sensitive and accommodating, not to cause any more trauma to my child. They were sensitive to my needs and to my little girl, who had been an innocent bystander in this horrific display of what was fear-based control, and the deletion and the insidious trauma it has manifested into. I am so thankful that these women took care of us. They are incredibly talented at work. They gave me the strengths and validation I needed to be the mother I want to be for my daughter. I was not a victim in her care, yet a strong survivor who will have the self-love needed to raise a strong, resilient young woman. I am sorry, I did not get to say goodbye and thank you. Just know you made an immense impact on my life, and I will always remember how you treated me on this heartbreaking day. Please keep doing what you do. You are an angel to me.
