I am honored to nominate Sharon for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary and compassionate care she provided to a medically complex patient with severe mental illness and challenging behavior while simultaneously serving as a dedicated preceptor. This patient required not only skilled medical care but also a level of emotional support and advocacy that went far beyond routine nursing duties. Sharon approached every interaction with calm, patience, and deep empathy. She took the time to understand the patient's fears and triggers, creating a safe and therapeutic environment where the patient felt heard, respected, and cared for. Her ability to adapt clinical excellence with a trauma-informed approach truly made a difference in this patient's experience and outcomes.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Sharon was precepting a new nurse on our unit. She modeled professionalism, empathy, and critical thinking during the challenging situation, fostering a learning environment that emphasized holistic, patient-centered care. Her guidance not only supported her orientees' growth but also reinforced the values that make nursing such a vital and human profession. Watching Sharon manage a complex case with grace, while nurturing the next generation of nurses, reminded me of the impact one nurse can have on countless lives.
