I’ve had countless nurses provide care to me over the years, but not one has ever come close to giving me the level of care I received from Emily.
I’m a recently discharged patient from your hospital.
Unfortunately, I’ve had a couple of dozen hospitalizations in my adult life. I’ve had countless nurses provide care to me over the years, but not one has ever come close to giving me the level of care I received from Emily.
All nurses have their normal, routine responsibilities, and there are many, and Emily excelled at those. She was always prompt, quickly responsive when needed, and somehow always seemed to check in on me whenever we had questions.
Emily also displayed an extremely caring heart, just filled with empathy for others. She used that heart to successfully treat and fulfill my emotional and spiritual needs. Within minutes of meeting me, Emily was perceptive enough to recognize these needs. She immediately asked if she could pray with me.
Now, how did she know my faith and spiritual life are so important to me? This young lady prayed for me. Before she left the room, she had me in a very calm, peaceful, and comforting place. My wife walked in during our prayer and was every bit as grateful to Emily as I was when she saw how calm and relaxed I had become. That was so special to us. We’ll be grateful for that always.
During my six-day stay, I had two procedures done on two different days. These were the only two days Emily worked during my time on her floor. After the first procedure, some complications cropped up. Going by how I felt, I thought it might be something serious, and I think it was.
Emily, though, was perfect at her job. Not only did she get me stabilized, but she also kept me so calm with her demeanor that I felt total confidence in her. Thank you for that, Emily.
After the second procedure, the doctor fixed me up. However, sure enough, things went south kind of quickly. This was much worse than before, with a much worse possible outcome. But, to no surprise, Emily was up to the task. While she successfully brought me through this setback, again, her demeanor, her bedside manner, call it what you will, kept both me and my wife calm.
I’d like to add that Emily’s shift was scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This episode lasted long after her shift was supposed to be over, so I felt guilty and encouraged her to go home to her family. I figured there were other nurses.
Of course, due to her super caring heart, she didn’t even verbally respond. Instead, she just kept working and gave me the briefest glance with an expression that instantly told me she wasn’t going anywhere. As things got better, she told me she wasn’t leaving until she was sure I was alright. I believe she didn’t get out of there until 10:00 p.m.
I’m so sorry for my lousy timing, but I would be less than honest if I said I wasn’t glad she stayed. She just had my wife’s and my total confidence. My apologies to Emily and her family for stealing some of their time together, but nevertheless, thank you once again, Emily.
This will always be special to me. A warm memory for the rest of my days.
I could go on and on about so many things Emily did for me, but I just don’t think I would have the time. I am an old man, but I can tell you this: my wife and I are so grateful to Emily that we can’t find the words that adequately describe how much she has us feeling like we didn’t just find your hospital’s very best nurse, we also found a new friend.
May God bless you greatly, Emily!
