Emily is more than just a supervisor; she is a leader of remarkable integrity, empathy, and unwavering dedication to both patients and staff. In every situation, even the most difficult, Emily remains a steady and compassionate presence. She approaches challenges with grace and consistently provides support and encouragement, helping us find the positive, even when it feels out of reach.
She upholds our Appearance Standards with professionalism and respectfully holds us all accountable, setting a standard we’re proud to follow. Emily is an active listener who offers timely, constructive feedback, always in the spirit of growth and care. Her 12-hour schedule, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., allows her to remain visible and engaged with both day and night shift teams. That kind of presence matters, especially at night, when it’s easy to feel forgotten. Her consistent visibility is not just appreciated; it’s impactful.
With over 20 years of dedicated service to St. Tammany Health System, Emily’s loyalty to our hospital and unit speaks volumes. She actively encourages staff development by promoting involvement in Unit-Based Councils, Shared Governance committees, and leadership roles. She advocates fiercely for safe staffing, equitable scheduling, and above all, patient-centered care.
She celebrates our victories, supports us through challenges, and somehow still finds the time to ask how we’re doing, even on her busiest days.
One moment that truly encapsulated Emily’s extraordinary leadership occurred during a particularly chaotic night shift. We were understaffed, juggling several high- and low-risk laboring patients, and managing an emergency cesarean section. The pressure was intense. Emily, who was acting as charge nurse, didn’t just direct from the sidelines; she jumped in without hesitation. She helped reposition patients, assisted with an urgent delivery, and supported me during a patient recovery when my other patient required an epidural. She answered call lights and created a plan to stabilize the unit. She even stayed past her shift to ensure both patients and staff were safe.
That night, her presence, leadership, and integrity left an impression I’ll never forget.
Emily Price is a mentor, an advocate, and a guiding force for our team. She embodies the spirit of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award in every sense. We are beyond fortunate to have her leading our unit.
