I was swept away in a flash flood in Pike County, hanging in a tree, nearly losing my life. After that, my illness began. After months of suffering with no answers, I was finally able to get a proper diagnosis after seeing countless doctors. My diagnosis was severe Crohn’s Disease in the large and small intestine with other related autoimmune diseases.

For years, my life has been a series of medications, biologics, and immunosuppressants that have succeeded, failed, and many hospitalizations. I have been hospitalized at large and small facilities for days and weeks at a time. My biggest fear during each stay was the level of care I was going to receive. To say that I was blessed to receive care from the most amazing nurse during my most recent hospitalization is an understatement. The moment Jelissa walked into my room and introduced herself, I knew that she was special and everything was going to be fine. Jelissa is truly the most caring, compassionate nurse I’ve ever received care from. The countless trips she made into my room during each shift, just to check on me, to touch my hand and reassure me everything was going to be ok, gave me peace of mind that I had never received before. I honestly could never thank her enough for all she did for me during my stay. I wish that every nurse you employed could be like her.

Even though she was a complete stranger to me, she felt like a family member and a lifelong friend. Her knowledge and compassion have left a lasting impression on me. Anyone lucky enough to receive care from her is truly receiving selfless, top-notch care. It is my hope that you realize what an amazing nurse you have employed there, and I wish that each one there would strive to be just like her. Jelissa is one in a million, and I sincerely thank her from the bottom of my heart for providing such top-notch care during my stay.
