During Ariel's charge RN shift, one of our patients notified us that her sister, whom she helps care for, had fallen and been down at home for about six hours. Ariel attempted to obtain the address from the patient; however, the patient was unsure of her sister's address. Ariel started to look up the sister's name in EPIC and tried to Google a potential address while attempting to call the patient's sister. The sister was not answering any of the calls, and her phone was going to voicemail. As we were working out what to do, the patient's sister called us back. Ariel triaged her situation over the phone, placed a call to the Reno Police for a welfare check to assist the patient's sister. The Reno PD called the paramedics to attend to the sister's needs. Ariel called the sister back and updated her on the situation, and that someone was on the way to help her. Ariel's diligence in the welfare of not only our patients, but also their families and loved ones, goes to show what an outstanding nurse he is. Ariel always takes situations head-on and without hesitation. Thank you for being an outstanding member of the GSU team and consistently going above and beyond.
