Amy was nominated by six of her staff members, each submitting a nomination letter. Here are their nomination stories:

1. Amy accepted the new role as our NM quickly as staffing changed in our apheresis area, jumped in and learned how to do the job, and has never looked back since. She is a team player, a go-getter, and quite honestly this program would not be able to continue on without her.

2. Amy and another nurse leader, Paul, are the reason that the BMT team is still able to continue to take patients through transplant. The apheresis unit lost staff, leaving only one Assistant Nurse Leader, Paul. Amy stepped in as Nurse Manager, and the two have run the unit. They have been able to continue to collect patients and donors in addition to providing apheresis procedures to the inpatient units. Their volume of patients has never been affected. They go above and beyond during the day and on-call hours.

3. Amy is the most caring and compassionate Nurse Manager. She has taken on everything that has come her way, handling it with grace. She has kept our program afloat while we have been faced with many challenges. Without her, many of us would be lost. She has put our patients first without a second thought, working crazy hours and being pulled in many different directions. She does it all with a smile on her face. I feel lucky to have her as my leader, and grateful that she is supportive in every way.

4. Amy and another nurse leader, Paul, have single-handedly saved the entire Bone Marrow Transplant team. They have covered multiple shifts, working without days off for almost four months. Their commitment to the patient and program is outstanding. I cannot think of a better example of Meliora. I am proud to work alongside them!

5. The Apheresis and BMT program owes a huge debt of gratitude to Amy and Paul. For the past six months, they have selflessly stepped away from their current roles to keep apheresis running, and therefore the BMT program, during a time of massive staff turnover. They are the epitome of dedication and patient-centered care. They are both loved and respected by their team. We are grateful for their leadership.

6. Amy had been recently promoted to Nurse Manager of Stem Cell Therapy & Cellular Therapy Program. There was a major loss of staff in our apheresis center, and Amy stepped up and learned apheresis in order to support the apheresis center, a vital part of our program. She has devoted long hours and days, and she also continues her role as Nurse Manager. Amy has done this with a smile on her face. She is truly a rock star, and the program is so lucky to have her.
