Shelley Pruiksma has been a psych nurse for 41 years. She worked at Forest View for 25 years and Pine Rest for 16 years.

Throughout her years as being a psych nurse, Shelley worked in many areas, including: Staff nurse, Intake, Utilization Management, Nurse Extender working with both inpatients and outpatients, completed her Addiction Certification, Nurse Extender on Hickory Adult Unit, Child & Adolescent Unit, Redwood – Dual Diagnosis Unit, and currently working in the Neuromodulation Clinic in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

Shelley is loved by her patients – she received two DAISY Nominations from TMS patients. She has a kindness that starts with a smile and continues through her words and actions.

Shelley is extremely knowledgeable about psych mental health nursing. She has taught many nurses, student nurses, patients, and others about Mental Health, Substance Use Disorders (SUDS), and TMS. She provides tools for her patients to assist them in being successful.

Shelley is loved and respected by her peers. She has been a mentor, collaborator, educator, encourager, and supporter, among other things.
