On a Friday evening, I drove myself to the ER under duress. Because my situation was not coronary-related, I waited in the ER waiting room for several hours while my condition continued to deteriorate. Caitlin S., who was working in the ER, noticed what was happening and took it upon herself to save me as I passed out in the waiting room. Thanks to her quick action and the Crash Team's rapid arrival, I was brought around safely.

At some point around midnight, while I was still waiting for a room, I must have mentioned that it was my 73rd birthday, quite an unexpected way to spend it.

The next day, at the beginning of their shifts, Amalia E. and Caitlin S. both came to my room with a birthday card and decorations. They went out of their way to show kindness, and their thoughtfulness truly touched me. I was so surprised, and I will never forget how they made me feel during such a frightening experience.
