I am honored to nominate Alicia for recognition of her exceptional nursing care, leadership during emergencies, and unwavering commitment to patients and colleagues. Alicia consistently demonstrates humility, hard work, and attentiveness, going above and beyond to ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of care. One example of her exceptional skill occurred in the PACU when a patient, recently transported after a pain management procedure, became drowsy and unresponsive. While others attributed this to sedation, Alicia immediately recognized that something more serious might be occurring. She promptly reassessed the patient’s vital signs and discovered significant hypotension due to a vasovagal episode. Acting swiftly, she coordinated with her team to place the patient in bed, initiated appropriate measures to restore blood pressure, and ensured continuous monitoring. Thanks to her quick thinking and decisive action, the patient stabilized and was later safely discharged. Notably, this was not even her assigned patient, but she stepped in without hesitation.
On another occasion, a patient presented for an elective procedure with uncontrolled hypertension, resulting in the case being canceled. Alicia reviewed the patient’s medication list and thoughtfully suggested administering antihypertensive medication while awaiting same-day evaluation with the primary care physician. Her initiative reflected not only her clinical acumen but also her dedication to patient safety and comfort. Beyond her clinical expertise, Alicia's positive attitude, teamwork, and compassion set her apart. She uplifts her colleagues, fosters a supportive environment, and consistently models excellence in patient care. Her ability to remain attentive, proactive, and humble, while always prioritizing the well-being of others, makes her truly deserving of this recognition. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly nominate Alicia for this award. She exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding nurse and is an invaluable asset to both patients and our team.
