She didn’t just manage my medical care; she made sure my pain was well controlled, my energy was preserved, and my fears were calmed.
From the moment Preslie Cushing entered my room, she brought a calm, caring spirit that immediately put me at ease.

Preslie took the time to listen to my medical history and truly hear my concerns, especially my past experiences with epidurals and blood pressure issues, and PPH. She was already aware of my history. When those issues arose again, she cared for me tirelessly throughout the night. She stayed on top of every detail, adjusting fluids, administering 6–8 rounds of medications and shots, rotating my positions, and ensuring my comfort at every step.

What stood out most was her compassion. She didn’t just manage my medical care; she made sure my pain was well controlled, my energy was preserved, and my fears were calmed. As a second-time mom going through a long induction and laboring overnight, having Preslie by my side was a dream. Her attentiveness, expertise, and kindness gave me the strength I needed to have a safe and successful birth and delivery.

Preslie embodies everything:  skill, compassion, and extraordinary dedication to her patients. I am deeply grateful for the care she provided and believe she is more than deserving of this honor.

Preslie was my nightshift nurse when I delivered my baby boy, L. She is such a ray of sunshine and has the most warming presence. I was admitted at 37 weeks to be induced after sudden onset pre-eclampsia. I am a first-time mom and was already nervous about giving birth in general, but now even more nervous with the pre-eclampsia diagnosis and 2-day induction process.

My epidural stopped working suddenly when I was 9 cm dilated. I was in excruciating pain. She helped me stay calm and called the anesthesiologist to come help. Preslie made me feel safe and supported. She constantly reassured me. Being a nurse myself, I know how busy you can be. She never once made me feel like a bother for calling her when I needed something.

Preslie stayed late past her shift to be there while I delivered L.

When it was finally time to push, Preslie sat on the bed with me and explained everything that was going to happen next and coached me through every push. She counted for me while I pushed and was so gentle and supportive. It was so much calmer and light-hearted than I was expecting.

I only pushed for 25 minutes, and it was the most amazing experience I could have ever imagined. Not one time during that experience was I scared because of Preslie. I tell people all the time that I would do it again every day.

My birth experience was an absolute dream, and I am so grateful that she was our nurse. I will never forget the love and compassion she showed me and the strength and courage she helped me find to make this a beautiful experience.

It is very apparent that Preslie is passionate about being a Labor & Delivery nurse.

Thank you so much, Preslie, for being such a ray of sunshine and making my birth experience unforgettable. I am so blessed to have had you as my nurse! I hope we have you as our nurse again when we have our next baby in a few years!
