My mom was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. She showed early signs of improvement, then went quickly downhill. Approximately 2 ½ weeks into her stay, my mom was fortunate to have Nurse Fortune assigned to her on several occasions. My mom wouldn’t listen to me anymore, but when Nurse Fortune walked in the room, my mom lit up like a Christmas tree. One night, Nurse Fortune called me after 8:30 pm to let me know she stayed a little longer past her shift and got Mom to eat her entire dinner. I wept all night. Nurse Fortune, your dedication, compassion, and professionalism were evident in every interaction you had with Mom, and it brought our family so much comfort to know she was in such capable hands. Your kindness and attentiveness went beyond what we could have hoped for, and it truly made a difference in Mom’s final days. It’s rare to find someone who not only performs her job with skill but also with such genuine care and empathy. Thank you once again for your outstanding service. You are a true asset to your profession, and we are so fortunate that you were there for my mom. I will pray for the well-being and happiness of you and your family every day for the rest of my life.
