Thank you, Bonnie, for being an inspiration and a guiding light in my journey.
From the moment I met Bonnie in 2008, it was evident that she was a remarkable mentor and leader. Her genuine care for her employees as individuals, rather than mere team members, truly sets her apart. She possesses an exceptional talent for recognizing the strengths in those around her and empowering them to grow both professionally and personally.
Bonnie encourages involvement in unit-based initiatives for those eager to engage, while also respecting those who prefer to focus on their tasks and return home. She actively sought out opportunities for me to flourish, not just as a nurse, but as an individual, gently nudging me out of my comfort zone when she saw potential in me that I hadn't yet recognized.
Her commitment to sharing knowledge is commendable. Bonnie never kept her insights hidden; she generously shares her wealth of knowledge and experience and is always willing to educate, encourage, and empower others.
Moreover, she embraces feedback from colleagues and frontline staff alike, fostering an open and collaborative environment. Above all her responsibilities, Bonnie remains a nurse at heart. She genuinely enjoys spending time at the bedside with patients, listening to their stories, answering their questions, and advocating for their needs.
Bonnie’s passion for creating a unit where patients, families, and caregivers enjoy the best possible experiences and outcomes shines through in every interaction.
Even after a year away from bedside nursing and transitioning to case management, Bonnie continues to be my unwavering guide and mentor. While she may jest about me looking better in blue, her support has never faltered. Her open door and encouragement to pursue growth opportunities have been invaluable.
When Bonnie eventually retires, her legacy will undoubtedly be the countless individuals she has mentored and developed, leaving an indelible mark on our lives and careers. Thank you, Bonnie, for being an inspiration and a guiding light in my journey.
