Chris genuinely cared about me. I wasn’t sure what was wrong, but Chris listened to me and made me feel comfortable.
Christine currently works in our Emergency Department and has been a nurse at Edgerton Hospital for the last 8 years. Christine has received numerous nominations for the DAISY Award. I would like to highlight parts of these nominations she has received that led to her receiving this award:
"Christine was gentle and kind, and my daughter loves the teddy bear Christine gave her. Her calm demeanor and extra care made a huge difference for us, states the mother of a seven-year-old patient."
"Christine eased my pain and accommodated me with care and compassion. She did all she could for me and my fractured ribs, cuts, bruises, and leg pain."
Another patient with multiple sclerosis states, "Chris genuinely cared about me. I wasn’t sure what was wrong, but Chris listened to me and made me feel comfortable. She even ordered me lunch, and she gave me the best care available."
"I knew I was safe because Chris was thorough and double-checked with me on everything. She was respectful, listened to me, and was reassuring when I needed it. I’m grateful she was on duty."
Overall, the common theme of Christine’s nominations is that she cares – truly and genuinely cares about people. She listens, which is often what most patients need when they are hurt, sick, scared, and unsure of what is happening. Additionally of note, Christine is the first to jump in and help lead drills and mock scenarios at the hospital. She offers her experience and calmness to aid in helping educate other staff. Christine is dedicated to her patients, coworkers, and Edgerton Hospital. Christine is happy to say hi, offer help, listen, and smile through the chaos that can sometimes be the Emergency Department. Edgerton Hospital and Health Services is fortunate to have Christine as a part of our team. We are proud to recognize her as our 2025 DAISY Award Honoree!
Congratulations, Christine, and thank you for all you do for our patients and our organization.
