Nomination 1:

Michael is the nurse that every patient hopes they get when in the hospital. From day one, Michael took care of me with so much compassion. I was having terrible pain in my abdomen and having bloody urine. Michael was changing out a pure wick and found a huge blood clot. Michael listened to what I was saying about my abdominal pain and followed through on it. I was scheduled to go to Siskin the next morning. Michael called the doctor, and they ordered a CT scan because of the blood clot.

The scan showed 3 cysts in my abdomen, which required surgery. My abdominal cysts wouldn’t have been taken care of so quickly if I had been discharged to Siskin. Michael’s awareness brought a critical health issue to light. His diligence with detail helped save my life. Michael always greeted me with a smile and a hug whenever he worked. He has continuously tried to help me feel better and be more comfortable. He answered every question I had, and if he didn’t know, he found someone who did. He's a super nurse with a super sweet personality.

Nomination 2:

I stayed with my daughter every day and night for over a month. We saw many different nurses at this time, and the nursing care provided to her by Michael was top of the line. Michael treated my daughter like she was his only patient every day he cared for her. I know he was busy, but he always took the time to listen to her and give her excellent care.

My daughter was very sick for several weeks and Michael always looked at the big picture to find ways to make her feel better. No task was too difficult. It was so neat to see Michael cheer and praise when she was able to get a shower, even with assistance. She has POTS and will pass out.  Michael was so diligent in getting blood pressures sitting and standing before having her try to walk with the walker. Michael is an outstanding person and an outstanding nurse.
