I’m a 29-year-old female who walked into the Emergency Room with redness and swelling on her abdomen. I was very afraid as I had already suffered a case of cellulitis back in 2016. As my fear became real, Mario was great at taking care of me every step of the way. He was so patient and attentive the whole time I was in the ED. He always made sure to answer my questions and inform me of the next steps to be followed.

There was a moment when I was waiting for transportation to take me for a CT scan. He took it upon himself to take me for my CT, which created a feeling of comfort and trust for me. I soon learned that I had to be admitted, and he made sure I had a room in the ED while I was waiting for a bed. He was also very diligent in making sure my pain was manageable and controlled. Before being brought to my floor, I had to receive my first dose of vancomycin, so he stood with me the first 15 minutes, and when I felt the itchiness on my chest, he was right there to take care of me. He knew exactly what to do and how to keep me calm. Being under his care was by far the best experience I’ve had, especially in a very scary situation! I hope and wish for more nurses to be like Mario! He knew how to build a trustworthy relationship!
