LaTosha serves as a PCC with the Pre-Kidney Transplant department while also maintaining a full patient assignment. Her patients are individuals who require a kidney transplant, have an approved living donor, and are awaiting a surgical date. This population is unique; some will move to surgery very quickly, while others may face delays as they wait to be matched in a paired exchange program. Throughout these unpredictable timelines, LaTosha excels in maintaining exceptional communication and providing compassionate support.

Kidney transplant patients often experience heightened anxiety, fear of the unknown, and anticipation about their future health. LaTosha ensures they are never left feeling alone during this process. She consistently offers multiple avenues of communication, including phone, email, and secure MyChart messaging,  and responds with empathy, understanding, and patience. Her attentiveness strengthens patient trust in her, the transplant institute, and the hospital as a whole.

Undergoing a kidney transplant is a major step. Not only is it a lifesaving surgery, but it is also the beginning of a lifelong health journey. LaTosha does an outstanding job providing continuous education and guidance from pre-evaluation through surgery and beyond. She ensures each patient understands what to expect and feels supported every step of the way.

In her leadership role, LaTosha has also demonstrated a strong commitment to process improvement and innovation. She has taken the initiative to enhance support for our living kidney donors,  individuals who often experience significant anxiety both before and after donation. Recognizing this need, LaTosha identified a valuable opportunity to collaborate with the Wellness Team to provide coping tools and emotional support for this population. Her advocacy is already making a meaningful impact in improving donor experience and overall well-being.

LaTosha’s dedication to patient-centered care, her compassionate communication style, and her ongoing contributions to program enhancements make her an invaluable member of the transplant team and a true asset to the community we serve.
