While this was just a few hours of one of your many shifts, it was a defining moment for us, and we are deeply grateful for the compassion you showed during that time.
My mom, who is currently fighting metastatic colorectal cancer, came into the ER for sudden one-sided weakness and tingling. After her CT results revealed a mass in her brain, we were moved to a higher acuity area and received Letty as our nurse.

In a setting where staff care for critically ill patients daily, often making it easy to become desensitized, Letty stood out for her genuine compassion and understanding. During our brief time in the ED before transferring to the ICU, she went above and beyond to make my mom and me feel cared for. Even the small gestures, such as offering a pillow, ensuring my mom’s comfort, and being meticulous about infection control, made a profound difference. These actions may have seemed simple to her, but they brought us comfort during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.

While this was just a few hours of one of your many shifts, it was a defining moment for us, and we are deeply grateful for the compassion you showed during that time.

Thank you, Letty.
