In May, our family experienced a difficult and emotional chapter when my dad was hospitalized unexpectedly for acute kidney failure. We are a close-knit family, and it was overwhelming to watch the strongest man we know suddenly unable to do even the most basic tasks, such as using the restroom, bathing, and feeding himself, all while battling pneumonia and daily changes to his health.

Throughout this incredibly vulnerable time, several staff members provided care that went far beyond the clinical. Their compassion, humanity, and genuine connection with our family made all the difference. Cassidy was truly one of the best nurses we’ve ever encountered. From the moment she entered the room, she made every member of our family feel heard, respected, and supported. She had a unique way of treating us like valued members of my dad’s care team, always explaining things clearly and taking time to connect with all of us. She also made a point to connect with my dad personally. They bonded over fishing and shared stories about family. She told him about how close she was to her own dad, which helped create a comforting, familiar dynamic that made him feel more at ease.

Even after he transferred, we crossed paths with Cassidy twice while she was on break, and she stopped to chat with us and get an update on my dad. Her ongoing kindness and warmth left a lasting impression.
