Nestly continued to visit me several times after my departure from the ICU onto the ward to pop in and say hi and see how I was doing.
Nestly was like my guardian angel on my first night in the critical care unit. He has such a gentle, caring demeanour, and I felt so safe in his hands. He was so quiet when he checked on me, but when I was a little bit awake, I could sense him checking on me, my water, checking I was comfy. Then, when I moved to the ward, he continued to check on me. He is truly a nurse in a million who cares for people in the softest and most compassionate way.

I spent 3 nights in ITU recovering from cytoreductive surgery following my ovarian cancer diagnosis. Nestly showed exceptional and outstanding care and empathy. He listened to my concerns and fears. He was kind, patient, and made me feel comfortable. He ensured my pain management was under control and never left my side during his shift. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for the quality of care and the respect he showed me as I began the battle for my life.

When I was moved to standard patient rooms after my time in the HDU, he came specifically to see me at the end of his shift, when I was no longer in the HDU, and helped change my sheets and my leaking drain. He continued to deliver kind care and came to see me daily.

This is the second time I have attended the Lister, and on both occasions, one nurse in particular exemplified for me what nursing is all about. He put me at ease not only with his skills but also with his genuine care. Most amazingly, he also visited me on the wards to check I was OK after leaving intensive care for the duration of my stay at the Lister. His professionalism and genuine care are key things I will remember about my time at the Lister, not the complexities of my two surgeries, and I am taking the time to highlight his service because they should be celebrated.

Nestly showed such an amazing level of care during my time in the ICU. Not only did he show amazing skills and ability as a nurse, but he also showed such kindness, warmth, and empathy towards me.
