On a night shift recently, Kayln provided exceptional care to an older patient who was hospitalized. This patient had not been able to get a hold of her special needs son at all during the previous shift and she was extremely worried. It was clearly not conducive to her healing. Kayln took the beginning of her shift and contacted the police to do a wellness check on this person’s son. They were able to verify that he was okay, and the patient was then able to speak with him. He was unable to provide himself food and this patient was not able to pay for him to have something delivered at that time. As a mother herself, Kayln was so empathetic about this distressing situation for this patient. Kayln bought the patient’s son dinner and had it delivered to their home. If this isn’t an extreme act of kindness not only as a nurse, but human to human, then I don’t know what is. Kayln is a special nurse and it’s these small moments that are so big to another person that make a difference.
