My son would not be where he is today if it were not for Ally.
I believe 99% of nurses should be able to accept the DAISY Award during their nursing career for the sheer fact that they live and work every single day to help others. They put patients above themselves in all situations. The long days and nights, holidays, and weekends are all to help others. But out of that 99% that should accept this award, there is one nurse who truly deserves it most of all. Her name is Ally Austin, and she is a nurse in pediatric cardiology.
Ally is the heartbeat of the pediatric cardiology office. She changes lives just by being who she is. Smiling at everyone, saying hello, knowing everyone by name. And I can say that with 100% certainty because she has changed my son's life and mine also. My son is only 2 and has spent more than half his life at Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. He has been around a lot of nurses, doctors, PTs, OT’s, and all the other amazing healthcare specialties, but there are only a few he shows off his charming smile and bright blue eyes, and one is Ally! He adores her, asks for her all the time, and reaches out for her whenever he sees her.
Her genuine personality, calming nature, and sincere love for my son make it so easy for him to love her as much as he does. Ally is simply the best of the best. There are a million jobs in the world, but have you ever thought, "This, this is the job for this specific person" because they are so good at it and perfect for it? That is Ally with peds cardiology and nursing in general.
Ally does not need this recognition to prove that she’s a good nurse; she simply deserves it because she’s the best nurse there is. Not just in pediatric cardiology, but I would argue in the entire hospital. She is exactly who you want representing your hospital and advocating for your patients. She is an elite nurse and an even better person. She deserves this because of what she does every single day when she comes to work.

She goes above and beyond to do every single thing she can to make my life easier, and so I can focus on my son and what he needs. We love you, Ally, so much!
