I was a patient at Della Cava Behavioral Health Unit, and my first nurse was Brigid. She was very helpful, kind, and didn't make me feel like a number. She made sure to check in on me frequently, which I greatly appreciate.

Meghan was also very attentive, and when I was having any symptoms, she promptly addressed them and eased the worry that comes along with certain treatments. When I expressed my discomfort in a treatment process, she quickly adjusted that treatment so that it was more tolerable.

Romana was my nurse twice, and each time it felt like my aunt or beloved family member was taking care of me. Not only did she educate me on certain medications or procedures, but she also took the time to come sit with me during mealtimes. She made me feel the most comfortable. She let me vent without interruption or judgment and advocated for me when I needed it most.

It must be mentioned that it also felt great being cared for by women of color, since I am of color. It adds an incredible level of comfort during my time here. Thank you to all the staff and especially to the techs who facilitated the activities and groups. I'm forever grateful!
